to whom it may concern:
my 7 yr old daughter has some symptoms of ADHD but not all. i am wondering if she could still have some from of it and, also, her grandfather and her aunt on her fathers side has neurothapy. is there a possible link between the two? how do i go about finding out if my daughter DOES infact have ADHD or some other similar disease?
I do not know wat6 "neurothapy" means... Is is "neuropathy"?
There is no well known link between different types of neuropathy and adhd but I cannot rule out a connection.
It is not so important to have all symptoms of adhd. Girls may only have symptoms of inattention or impulsivity. Many smart girls are able to cope with some of the symptoms at school or at home. But they may run in difficulties later in life, because the demands to organize and handle everyday activies change. You should ask her teachers about any symptoms of distractibility, lack of awareness of problems related to reading, writing or maths. Look for changes of the autonomous nervous system like dizziness. Some Adhd kids have paradox effects on certain medication, have a hypersensitivity to smell, light or noise. Or they feel cold in summer and hot in winter.
These are just some symptoms related to adhd. There are some rather good books about adhd in women or girls. One is called "Understanding girls with adhd" by Kathleen Nadeau. But most of these books are more or less related to older girls. Nevertheless : Try to read one of these books and ask a selfhelp group for help and names of adhd experts in your area.
